A skidoo dump/graveyard in the remote arctic village of Ivujivik, Nunavik, Quebec, Canada, April 2006.
Contact with Western societies has meant that the Inuit of arctic Canada have largely given up the use of dog sleds as their main form of transport in favour of the less environmentally friendly skidoo.
As the sea ice thins due to global warming accidents are becoming increasingly common as, unlike the team dogs who could smell salt water, the skidoo has no innate ability to know if the ice is safe to traverse.
It also serves as a reminder of the vanishing Inuit culture which, some predict, will be gone within two generations.
